The curtain has come down on a long and illustrious career as Dr Harry Frydenberg AM announced his retirement at end of 2022 last year.
Dr Frydenberg has been involved in weight loss surgery in Australia for over 30 years and was the director of Epworth Centre for Bariatric Surgery for much of this time.
Dr Frydenberg is a past president and honorary life member of IFSO (International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders). He is past president and a founding member of ANZMOSS (Australian and New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society).
I was fortunate to spend many years working with Dr Frydenberg through both Epworth Centre for Bariatric Surgery and Box Hill Hospital. Over two years we progressed the Endobarrier® Programme performing the first 100 cases in Australia of this novel procedure.
During my years working with Harry and Epworth Centre for Bariatric Surgery I managed a multitude of complex patients operated together with Harry in a number of very complex cases.
